Base Location: Perth
Salary: £61,105 - £72,592 + shift + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
SSEN Transmission are seeking a Power Control Engineer to join us to ensure the safe and reliable operation of Scotland's high-voltage electricity network. You will use your expertise to control, monitor, and analyse the transmission network in real-time, making crucial decisions to ensure grid security and stability.
This is a shift position working day/backshift. Shift work will be applicable once training for the position is complete.
You will
* Coordinate the commissioning of programs and operational data.
* Ensure power system analysis of electricity flows and in real time, commission and switch up to 400kV.
* Display understanding principles of real and reactive power flow, and voltage.
* Experience and clear understanding of a safe system of work.
* Ensure the provision of appropriate supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) displays and Power System Simulator for Engineering (PSS/E) models prior to network changes.
You have
* A minimum of an HNC in electrical engineering and will ideally have experience as a senior authorised person. (SAP)
* You will have a relevant background in electrical power system operation.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders.
* You will be a team player and work well in a knowledge sharing culture.
* A flexible and proactive approach to work in order to achieve results and thrive under pressure.
* Previous experience working in a control room environment desirable.
