Role DescriptionPrinces' Innovation team exists to drive long-term profitable business growth by developing sustainable and relevant products for consumers and for our key customers, including both creation of new products and evolution of existing products.
This role will be responsible for profitable growth through Innovation – encompassing product change on products across both Brand and COB.
The role will be accountable for delivery of the Innovation growth platform(s), ensuring projects are progressed to an agreed stage gate and successfully handed over for market implementation.
The role must collaborate with key functions including CS&P, Insight and work closely with the Product and Packaging Development team on the development of the edible/drinkable products and packaging, and with the Innovation PMO team who manages the process associated with all changes to products.
They must act as an externally-focused thought leader in key categories, ensuring success in delivering on consumer and customer needs against the competition, and energising and motivating across the business in this respect. Key activities include leveraging customer, consumer and competitor global insights and trends.
Dimensions:
1. Responsible for developing and owning the strategic innovation growth pillar and pipeline for next 3-5 years, to deliver the business strategy and financial goals
2. Ideation, development, testing and review of innovation concepts
3. Engagement and co-ordination across teams of colleagues and communication with stakeholders at all levels
4. Energising and building strong relationships with key teams across the business in UK and beyond, so that they are inspired and motivated to deliver successfully against our key innovation projects
5. Management of projects with key agencies and suppliers
6. Control an annual innovation budget.
7. Strong cross functional collaboration, working closely with CS&P as well as Innovation PMO and Product & Packaging Development teams
Principal Responsibilities:
8. Implement a long-term product innovation plan in key sectors, aligned with total Group strategy and our brand /sector strategies. Define and prioritise strategic opportunities and identify macro growth opportunities to deliver against KPIs over a 1-5 year horizon. Use deep commercial insight to prioritise agenda
9. Unlock growth opportunities, prioritise concepts against manufacturing capability and commercial criteria for Brand and COB, and write briefs for product/pack development (or co-write with brand team)
10. Pipeline development – Work with stakeholders and team to develop long-list of ideas and prioritise into winning concepts that support a short and mid-term balanced portfolio of opportunities across Brand and COB.
11. Ensure sufficiency at front end to deliver ‘funnel, not tunnel’. Ensure enthusiasm and buy-In to the pipeline and projects within all key teams across the business, ensuring an appropriate mix of projects and product change activity to deliver on our strategy and financial ambitions
12. Cross-functional engagement, through the stage-gate process
13. Break down cross-functional barriers to delivery of innovation ambition at speed
14. Inspire other teams in Innovation and Commercial functions, and broader stakeholder groups, around the vision and innovation pipeline
15. Establish the credibility of the team across the business up to senior level

24. Be brand and design literate, licensed brand and own brand experience would be advantageous.
25. Have experience of agency selection, briefing and management.
26. Have experience of working with or managing an NPD process.
27. Be a self starter and self motivator.
28. Be comfortable managing a broad number of stakeholder relationships and leading cross functional teams.
29. Have demonstrable planning and organisation skills.
30. Be creative, have strong communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
