KS1 Teacher - SEN Position: KS1 Class Teacher Contract: Full-time, temporary to permanent Start Date: ASAP Location: Bexhill on sea About the School: This role is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate teacher to support children in Key Stage 1 with a range of special educational needs. As a KS1 SEN Teacher, you will create a nurturing, structured, and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued, understood, and able to thrive. You will work closely with teaching assistants, parents, and external specialists to deliver personalised learning experiences that support academic progress, communication skills, emotional regulation, and independence Role Purpose To deliver high-quality teaching and learning to a SEN KS1 class, ensuring that all pupils make strong progress and feel valued, motivated, and supported within a positive classroom environment. Key Responsibilities Teaching & Learning Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that meet the requirements of the KS1 curriculum. Use creative and varied teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners. Create a stimulating classroom environment that supports learning and celebrates children's work. Assess, track, and record pupils' progress regularly, using this information to inform future planning. Provide high-quality feedback to pupils that supports their development and encourages independence. Classroom Management Establish positive routines and expectations for behaviour. Promote inclusion and ensure all pupils feel safe, valued, and respected. Work closely with teaching assistants to support individual and group learning needs. Person Specification Essential Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Experience teaching in KS1 (placements included). Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and assessment practices. Ability to create engaging, inclusive, and well-structured lessons. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A positive, reflective, and child-centred approach. Desirable Experience supporting children with SEND. Willingness to contribute to a subject leadership area.
