Cambridge and District Youth for Christ is a registered charity, number 1097834, whose registered office is 40 St Andrew’s Street, Trumpington, Cambridge, CB2 3AR.

Cambridge and District Youth for Christ is a Christian organisation which aims to see a culture-changing number of young people becoming mature disciples of Jesus through the local church.

Our communications team oversights the information we present to local churches, youth leaders, young people, parents, financial supporters, prayer supporters and volunteers. The team maintains a website, online database, mailing lists and emailing platform, social media channels and produces printed media.


Summary

The role of the Communications assistant is to carry out tasks related to the communications of the organisation. The Communications Assistant will work closely with the Communications Team Leader.


Duties

This role will involve:

* Collecting prayer requests from staff and using these and prayer suggestions relevant to our work to create a monthly prayer diary. Writing a monthly prayer email to be sent to our prayer supporters (this currently includes a relevant topic of prayer for young people, corporate prayer and prayer points, although this could be changed).
* Helping to uphold the branding guidelines of the Centre and reflecting the Tone Guide in all communications.
* Supporting the Comms team as required and as time allows (for example, this may include: collecting testimonies and stories from team, volunteers and young people as directed; the opportunity to help develop new ideas for prayer communications and for social media content)
* Contributing to other projects as time allows

This role will be supervised by Katie Willingham, Communications Team Leader.

The postholder will join the staff team of the Centre and therefore be expected to participate in

* Prayer and team meetings as appropriate
* Regular supervision meetings with your line manager.
* Other Youth for Christ internal and external events.


Skills and Experience

The postholder will:

* Have an evident and active personal faith in Jesus Christ.
* Be able to complete a range of tasks as directed, reliably and on time.
* Have reasonable IT skills.
* Have good communication skills.
* Manage their own time and commitments well.


Terms & Conditions

This is a voluntary position.

Hours : The postholder is expected to work up to 4 hours per month by arrangement with the Communications Team Leader, with the opportunity to increase hours in the future.

Expenses: Cambridge & District Youth for Christ will aim to cover all reasonable working expenses. This does not include travel to or from the office.

Holidays: As a voluntary position, we ask that the postholder informs the Line Manager in advance when they are unavailable to work, where possible, giving one months notice.
