There are two Assistant Accountant roles available, supporting 'Finance, Strategy & Resource' and 'Housing & Operations'. If you have a specific interest in either of these areas, please make this clear in the Supporting Information section of your application.
Key Responsibilities
* Support budget preparation, monitoring, and final accounts.
* Lead on financial aspects of assigned service areas and council-wide projects.
* Prepare statutory returns, reconciliations, and control accounts.
* Provide financial advice and analysis to budget holders and service managers.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and board members.
Candidate Requirements
* Financial qualification or recent and relevant experience that demonstrates finance proficiency.
* Experience of computerised financial information systems.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to analyse financial data and present to non-financial recipients.
* High attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
* Experience in local government finance is desirable but not essential.
