The Role We have an exciting opportunity for a legal professional who enjoys working on varied and meaningful work across commercial, corporate, procurement and regulatory matters. You will join a growing inhouse legal team where knowledge sharing, teamwork and professional development are core values. You will contribute to SONIs strategicobjectivesby providing accessible,solutionfocusedlegal advice and working closely with colleagues across the business. You willbe responsible for: Providelegal advice on statutory and regulatory obligationsrelevanttoSONIastheTransmission System Operator and Market Operator forNorthern Ireland(e.g.planning, environmentallaw,connection agreements,procurement,competitionlawand licensing requirements). Monitor legislativeand regulatorychangesand supporttheorganisationin understanding impactsandrequiredactions. Draft,reviewand negotiatecommercial agreements including supply contracts, service level agreements, framework contracts, procurement documentation, ITlicencesand consultancy agreements. Collaboratewith regulatory, operational,engineeringand commercial teams to support strategic projects(e.g.infrastructure upgrades, network investment, regulatorysubmissionsandcapital projects). Communicate legal issues clearly andconstructivelyto colleagueswho are not legal specialists. Assistwith managingdisputes,litigation, arbitration,and otherresolutionprocesses. Supportcorporate governanceactivitiesincludingBoard support, draftingBoard papers, andmaintainingstatutory registers. Build strongpartnerships with internal teams, regulators, external advisers, and industry partners. Managerelationships withexternallegalsadvisorsand ensure best value for the organisation. Contribute tolegal team initiatives, knowledge sharing andorganisationallearning. Undertakeadditionaltasks asreasonablyrequired. Essentialcriteria: Qualified lawyer with at least 2 yearspost qualification experience(experienceinenergy,regulatoryor infrastructure sectors is welcomebut not essential). Ability tomanagea varied workload and navigate a range of legalmatters across areassuch asprocurement,commercialcontracts,regulation,planning andenvironment,infrastructureprojectsanddataprotection. Strong legal andcommercial judgement,and abletodeliverclearandpracticaladvice. Attention to detailand acollaborative, solutions-focusedapproach. Able to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to sharedgoals. Strong communicationand interpersonal skills. Willingnesstolearnnewlegalareasand developsector-specifictechnical understanding. Desirablecriteria: Experience in the energy sector, or anotherregulatedindustry. Experience of working in a largeorcomplex organisation with multidisciplinary teams. Interest in climate changeactionand energytransition. Why join us?
