At Bath & North East Somerset Council, we have one overriding purpose: to improve people’s lives.
It’s an exciting time to be working in housing at Bath & North East Somerset. We are implementing an organisational change programme and have recently launched our Housing Plan 2025-30, which sets out ambitious actions for housing over the next five years.
About The Role
The role is primarily based at the Civic Centre in Keynsham, with occasional work at other locations and some working from home by agreement. You will work mainly with either the Housing Standards team or the Housing Options team but may also collaborate with other teams across the service.
We aim for high standards of customer service and are seeking two highly motivated individuals to join us. You will be responsible for providing general administrative support within Housing Services.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
1. Provide general administrative support, including responding to enquiries by telephone or email.
2. Arrange and coordinate meetings, book appointments, attend meetings to take notes, and arrange for their distribution.
3. Use information management and other systems to record and retrieve service information.
4. Process purchase orders and invoices.
5. Assist with housing standards enforcement.
6. Assist housing options with customer calls and accommodation placements.
7. Assist with debt recovery and make inspection appointments with property owners/managers.
Applicant Requirements
* GCSE level qualification, or equivalent, or relevant experience.
* Excellent IT and keyboard skills, with accurate data inputting skills and the ability to use web-based tools.
* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to cope under pressure, as the role may involve dealing with stressed or upset customers.
* The ability to work as part of a team as well as independently, prioritising tasks and managing workloads effectively.
* Benefits include generous leave entitlement, a discount scheme, and a pension scheme.
* A comprehensive induction, regular supervision with your line manager, and extensive training opportunities, including IT skills and Safeguarding and Child Protection courses.
* Career development opportunities such as apprenticeships, qualifications, shadowing, and coaching.
