Are you a confident, adaptable individual looking to make a difference in a classroom setting? Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Cover Supervisor / Classroom Supervisor to join an OFSTED-rated 'Good' mainstream secondary school in the Lancaster area.
Starting ASAP on a long-term basis through to Summer 2026, this role is ideal for experienced supervisors, aspiring teachers, or graduates looking to gain valuable experience in a thriving educational environment.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee classes across various subjects when the regular teacher is absent. Your core responsibilities include:
Classroom Management: Maintaining a positive and productive learning environment by managing student behavior in line with school policies.
Lesson Delivery: Leading the classroom and ensuring students stay on task with the work set by the department.
Student Support: Assisting students with queries and encouraging them to engage with their learning materials.
Adaptability: Transitioning between different subjects and year groups (KS3 & KS4) throughout the school day.
Professionalism: Ensuring the classroom is left tidy and providing brief feedback to the returning teacher regarding student progress.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: Previous experience working with groups of children or young people (e.g., as a coach, tutor, or supervisor) is highly desirable.
QTS Preferred: Qualified Teacher Status is an advantage, but we welcome applications from confident individuals with strong communication skills and a degree-level background.
Authority: The ability to command a classroom with a calm yet firm presence.
Flexibility: A proactive "can-do" attitude and the ability to think on your feet in a fast-paced secondary setting.
Compliance: Enhanced DBS clearance (on the Update Service) and a full 10-year employment history.
