Central London with great transport links A small Secondary SEN provision in Islington have a vacancy for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support students with Autism and moderate Learning needs.
The School
Supports students aged 11-16 with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties)
Delivers a differentiated curriculum tailored to individual needs
Small class sizes with targeted interventions and specialist support
Offers access to the National Curriculum, including GCSEs and BTECs
Focus on developing:
Social communication & interaction
Problem-solving skills
Emotional regulation & anxiety management
Functional life skills

The Role
Support the Class Teacher in delivering individualised learning programmes
Work closely with students with Autism and MLD in a secondary setting
Help manage and support challenging behaviour calmly and effectively
Use strategies to de-escalate situations and maintain a positive learning environment
Apply a solid understanding of:
Autism behaviours and triggers
Effective support and teaching strategies
Build strong, trusting relationships with students
Contribute to both academic progress and social development
Be adaptable-no two days are the same
