Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Mental Health Team at HMP Garth. HMP Garth has a capacity of around 800 males and is a category B prison located in Lancashire. The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will be based within the healthcare department and will also work on the prison wings. A prescriber is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate judgement in assessing and managing a wide range of complex patient problems
- Provide clinical leadership for the mental health team. This multi‑disciplinary team is made up of registered and non‑registered professionals including mental health and substance misuse practitioners.
- Act as a role model ensuring professional appearance and maintaining professional standards at all times
- Support senior clinicians on site and be part of the daily leadership team, providing clinical input for all patients
- Work with the team to ensure patient safety, management of complex cases and application of up‑to‑date treatment methodology
Hours and Salary
- Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm, 37.5 hours per week
- Permanent position with annual salary between £59,677 and £66,792 depending on experience.

Qualifications
- Registered Nurse Adult Mental Health with current NMC or Registered Paramedic with current HCPC
- Independent or supplementary prescriber qualification
- MSc in Advanced Practice
- Experience working autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner following best practice guidance
- Experience in hospital, community or prison environment is ideal but not essential
Legal and Compliance
Required to have legal right to work in the UK. Offer subject to additional vetting, security checks and Disclosure and Barring Service check. Applicants must have current UK professional registration. Candidates will need to submit to the Disclosure and Barring Service under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
