The Division of Surgery is looking for Nursing Assistants to work within the Acute Theatre suite. There are 10 theatres undertaking both elective and non‑elective work in adult and paediatric General & Colorectal, Orthopaedic (elective and trauma), Plastic trauma, and emergency surgery for Gynaecology, Breast, ENT and Maxillofacial. There is also the possibility of attending emergency procedures in the Maternity Delivery Suite.

Responsibilities
* Ensure equipment is available for surgeons and scrub practitioners and support them during surgical procedures.
* Accurately complete patient paperwork and update the ORMIS computer system in a timely manner.
* Participate in theatre team briefs and WHO checklists for safer surgery.
* Move and handle heavy loads such as large trays of instruments, heavy equipment and patient transfers.
* Act as patient advocates, maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.
* Maintain cleanliness in the work environment in line with Trust Health, Safety and Infection Prevention Practice policies.
* Work as part of the multidisciplinary team and independently when required.
* Anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
* Promote standards of health and safety in practice by identifying risks and undertaking activities safely.
* Provide high standards of infection control using techniques such as waste management, hand washing and PPE.
* Contribute to effective team working by being fully involved, committed, and participating to achieve full potential.
