Job Summary:
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Optometrist to join our team. In this role, you’ll deliver high-quality eye care to patients, providing comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and extended services. You will work closely with the Dispensing Optician Manager to maintain high clinical standards, provide training and coaching to colleagues, and develop new patient services. You’ll also have access to ongoing training and professional development opportunities, including support for additional accreditations, ensuring you are always at the forefront of eye care practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform a wide range of eye examinations, including routine checks and contact lens fittings.
Provide treatment for a variety of minor eye conditions and offer guidance to patients on maintaining eye health.
Work alongside the Dispensing Optician Manager to support, train, and coach other team members, ensuring high standards of clinical care.
Assist in the development and delivery of new patient services that enhance the patient experience and meet their evolving needs.
Maintain accurate patient records using digital systems, ensuring compliance with clinical and data protection standards.
Stay up to date with the latest developments in optometry and make recommendations for improvements to clinical practices.
Support the department’s operational success, collaborating with colleagues to ensure an efficient, welcoming environment for patients.
Complete necessary accreditations and CPD to continue improving clinical skills and meet statutory requirements.
Team Development:
Collaborate closely with your colleagues to promote a culture of learning and improvement.
Coach and mentor team members, helping to develop new clinical skills and improve patient care.
Provide support and guidance on day-to-day clinical and service-related queries, ensuring the team maintains high standards.
Assist in the implementation of new patient care initiatives and service offerings, ensuring they align with the overall departmental goals.
About You:
We are looking for an Optometrist who:
Is a fully qualified Optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).
Holds NHS performer status or is a registered performer with your local NHS area team or health board.
Has MECs or WECs accreditation, or is willing to obtain it within 12 months of joining (training and funding provided).
Is on track to meet the statutory CPD points requirement.
Demonstrates a passion for delivering excellent patient care and customer service.
Has a strong interest in developing new patient services and contributing to a culture of clinical excellence.
Is a team player, eager to collaborate and support others in achieving common goals.
