Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Key Stage 1

Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a passion for supporting young learners in Key Stage 1? We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to join welcoming primary schools in the Southampton area, helping to provide engaging, high-quality learning experiences for pupils in their early years of primary education.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys taking on responsibility, leading learning, and helping children develop key foundational skills.
What we’re looking for:
A qualified HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant with a Level 4 (or equivalent) qualification.
Experience working with Key Stage 1 pupils, supporting both academic and personal development.
Confident in delivering planned lessons and leading small groups or whole-class activities.
Strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and early literacy and numeracy strategies.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
A caring, patient approach with the ability to inspire and motivate young learners.
Reliable, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with staff and pupils alike.
About the role:
Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons and creating a positive classroom environment.
Lead small group and 1:1 session to boost pupil progress and confidence.
Deliver pre-prepared lessons when required, ensuring continuity of learning.
Assist with planning, assessment, and classroom organisation.
Encourage pupils’ curiosity, independence, and love of learning in the early stages of their education.
Work collaboratively with class teachers and school leaders to help every child reach their potential.
