Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Belfast, is currently looking to recruit an Assistant Director of Financial Management for an initial 6-month contract at a rate of £37.99/hour PAYE – working 37.5 hours per week. This role will be based in Belfast.
Responsibilities:
1. Influence strategic decision-making within the organisation through the provision of business and financial advice and support to Directors, Senior Operational Managers, and Budget Managers.
2. Be responsible, in conjunction with the Director of Finance, for developing, implementing, and monitoring the Capital Investment Strategy.
3. Monitor financial performance management, efficiency programmes, Value for Money, and benchmarking.
4. Develop a financial framework for business cases and their evaluation.
5. Lead the development of a Costing and Financial Appraisal System to provide timely, accurate, and accessible information based on organisational requirements.
6. Negotiate with Commissioners on the annual Service & Budget Agreement and produce an annual Financial Plan and associated budgets.
7. Be a member of the Senior Finance Team responsible for determining the strategic direction of the Finance Department and deputise for the Director of Finance as required.
8. Ensure staff development aligns with organisational and directorate needs.
9. Perform other duties as required.
10. Hold full membership of one of the five professional accounting institutes within the CCAB or CIMA, with at least 3 years post-qualifying experience in a senior management finance role within a major complex organisation, demonstrating ongoing professional development.
11. Have delivered challenging performance and financial management programmes for at least 3 years, achieving key targets and improvements.
12. Possess a valid UK driving licence and access to a car, unless prohibited by disability with approved alternative transport.
13. Have at least 3 years’ experience working with diverse internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
14. Demonstrate high-level people management, governance, leadership, and organisational skills for at least 2 years.
15. Experience in financial services within a major complex organisation.
