An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Orkney Health and Care mental health services for an enthusiastic CMHN, with experience of working with patients suffering from a variety of Mental Health conditions in the Adult MHT.
If you are a confident, creative 1st Level Nurse who can work both independently and as part of a team, then this could be the job for you. The post sits within the wider established community mental health services in Orkney which offer evidence-based interventions to address the mental health illnesses and disorders for the population of Orkney. The Adult Mental Health Team consists of 5 CMHNs (of which 2 are Locums), 2 part-time Psychiatrists, 1 OT/CBT Therapist, 1.5 Support Workers, and 1.5 Social Workers/MHOs.
There are no inpatient beds available locally, so this practitioner will require well-developed assessment and risk management skills to appropriately manage care delivery within their caseload. There is Psychology support and good links to 3rd Sector Agencies in Orkney.
This job consists of working with adults in a variety of settings to achieve treatment goals for a range of mental health conditions. Knowledge and delivery of psychological interventions would be an advantage in this post as well as being trauma-informed. The post holder will be involved on the rota as Duty worker within the wider service and on the Out of Hours rota. There is an expectation that when a transfer to Mainland Scotland is in progress, the postholder will assist colleagues in staffing this over 24 hours.
You should have substantial experience of working as a CMHN and have a sound knowledge of the effects of trauma.
You must hold a professional qualification with active registration with the NMC.
