Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (Culturally Diverse Communities)
£29,296.95 a year • Derbyshire • 37.5 hrs per week • Fixed Term contract
We have an exciting role working as part of our established Community IDVA Team offering proactive support to individuals from culturally diverse communities experiencing domestic abuse, assessed as high risk.
What You'll Do
* Manage your case load, ensuring each victim/survivor referred receives the appropriate service that fits their individual needs.
* Complete risk assessments, safety planning, referrals and MARAC processes using evidence-based tools.
* Work within a multi-agency framework including MARAC, the police, health professionals, child protection, housing practitioners and other voluntary and statutory specialists.
* Provide practical, emotional and advocacy support, including safety planning and guidance on civil and criminal justice options.
* Keep victims/survivors at the heart of everything you do by keeping them informed, connecting them to relevant services, and delivering flexible, accessible support in safe environments.
Who You Are
* A good level of education including GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent.
* Evidence of self-development or formal learning and development in sector skills.
* Demonstrable experience directly supporting adults who have experienced domestic abuse or who have other complex needs.
* A formal qualification, such as IDVA, or the willingness to complete one.
* A good understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact on those affected and the legal and practical remedies available to them.
* It would also be an advantage if you speak more than one language.
* Must have a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
* The successful candidate will require a DBS check and will be police vetted.
