The Role…
We are currently seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the Partial Discharge Condition Monitoring profit centre at our Rugby facility.
In this pivotal leadership position, you will be responsible for the operational, financial, customer, and employee strategies. You will lead and inspire a dedicated team to ensure the efficient and timely manufacture of Quartzteq products and the delivery of Partial Discharge-related projects, while driving continuous business growth.
Your primary focus will be on building strong client relationships, enhancing operational performance, and maintaining high standards of quality across all processes. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a motivated Manager to expand the business, manage complex technical operations, and ensure that Condition Monitoring solutions are expertly manufactured, tested, installed, and supported. You will play a crucial role in shaping the success of the centre, with a particular emphasis on after-sales support and customer satisfaction as key drivers of long-term success.
Key Responsibilities…
* Collaborate with the management team to achieve the overall objectives of the profit centre and business unit, while upholding high safety standards, work processes, and a commitment to continuous improvement in operational quality
* Manage the assembly team and develop planning in accordance with business and Quartzteq requirements
* Oversee the successful delivery of all Partial Discharge-related projects, ensuring efficient resource management, adherence to timelines, and alignment with client expectations
* Cultivate and strengthen relationships with both new and existing clients to maintain a continuous pipeline of work, driving after-sales support and business growth
* Identify new business opportunities, manage the tendering process, and lead business development activities to enhance sales and profitability
* Assume responsibility for the profit and loss (P&L), budget management, and commercial activities of the profit centre, including cash flow management and order ownership
* Ensure compliance with all company policies and industry regulations, with a specific focus on managing operations in accordance with the company’s safety protocols
* Manage and optimise processes and procedures to guarantee the highest standards of right first time delivery and customer satisfaction
* Collaborate closely with management and commercial teams to interpret, implement, and manage contracts and controls to ensure smooth project execution
* Establish clear, measurable goals to align individual and team performance with the overall business strategy, fostering high performance and continuous improvement
* Lead and develop the workforce, taking responsibility for all HR activities within the profit centre, ensuring that health, safety, quality, and performance standards are maintained in compliance with company policies and relevant legislation
* Provide assistance to the Business Unit Manager with any additional duties or initiatives as required.
Your skills and experiences:
* A higher qualification (or equivalent) in Electronics, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering is essential
* Proven experience in managing a team and overseeing operations in a technical or manufacturing environment
* Strong understanding of business development processes, including increasing sales and profitability within a technical context
* Experience with Condition Monitoring solutions, Partial Discharge monitoring, or related electrical engineering services is highly desirable, though training will be provided
* A solid comprehension of manufacturing and testing processes in an electronics environment
* Demonstrated experience in managing and understanding P&L, budget control, and possessing financial acumen
* Customer-focused with excellent interpersonal communication skills across all levels
* Strong leadership and people management capabilities, with the ability to motivate, develop, and lead a high-performing workforce
* Excellent organisational, decision-making, and time-management skills
* The ability to comprehend contracts and work effectively with commercial teams
* In-depth knowledge of the electrical engineering services industry and relevant market trends
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
* IOSH Health & Safety for Managers certification (or equivalent) is highly desirable
