QHSE Advisor working within the Mitie QHSE team supporting the Mitie Power and Grid business. The QHSE Advisor will support coordination and administration of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality activities across the Mitie Power and Grid major projects business.
Job objectives and responsibilities
The QHSE Advisor will be instrumental in providing advice, support and auditing activities to Power and Grid projects in Scotland and Northern England.
Main duties
* Provide QHSE advice to project and site managers, with the necessary information and systems required to operate safely and effectively.
* Providing pragmatic QHSE advice to Managers and Operational Teams and directly reports to the QHSE Lead.
* Undertaking QHSE internal audits and inspections as required, ensuring that actions are appropriately closed out.
* Populate reporting platforms.
* Ensuring QHSE documentation is maintained in accordance with company procedures.
* Completing Pre‑Qualification Questionnaires (PQQ) for potential clients/projects and assisting with reviewing PQQ for new contractors.
* Requesting, assessing and recording the validation documentation for potential and approved contractors and suppliers.
* Assisting the Project Manager(s) with reviewing the Construction Phase Plan as required under CDM Regs 2015.
* Ensuring that the site F10 notifications are in date, updated and displayed.
* Encourage an environment of continual improvement across all business activities.
* Undertaking inspections to confirm that site operatives comply with QHSE policies and procedures.
* Support business in maintaining/achieving third party certifications.
* Support completion of site investigations for incidents/accidents and near misses as required.
* Assisting the Project/Site managers in reviewing subcontractor site documentation e.g. RAMS and competence.
* Ensuring RAMS are prepared, in place and implemented supporting Operational Teams capability and offering guidance to Managers.
* Attending site meetings with clients, site managers and project managers if and when required.
* Providing monthly QHSE reports including statistics.
* Developing memos and safety alerts to raise QHSE awareness.
Person Specification
Essential
* At least 5 years of working in a similar QHSE advisor role.
* Excellent working knowledge of current QHSE legislation and compliance, including CDM.
* Working knowledge and understanding of ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 Management Systems.
* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
* Internal Quality, Environment, Health and Safety audit qualifications.
* A proactive self‑starter comfortable working in an environment in which no two days are the same.
* A collaborative working style with strong communication skills.
* Civil UK driving licence.
Desirable
* Good working knowledge of civil and electrical activities on construction projects.
* Experience of drafting policies and procedures and participating in third party audits.
Health and Safety responsibilities
* Follow group and company policies and procedures at all times.
* Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.
* Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
* Report any issues or training needs to your line manager and/or via your divisional incident reporting system.

* Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager.
* Report actual and suspected security incidents.
