Senior Clinical Psychologist Development Post

We are delighted to offer this exciting full-time 8a or 7-8a development post (dependent on experience) in our neurodevelopment service in North Wales. You will join a well-established multidisciplinary team that provides highly specialised neurodevelopmental assessments and support for neuro-divergent children and young people and their families. The team has strong links with local CAMHS and Intellectual Disability services and other multiagency partners. Your specialist psychological input to assessments and interventions will be highly valued.

The post involves supervision of colleagues (including assistant psychologists) depending on experience, as well as training and teaching and involvement in service improvement activities, including audit and service evaluation. This development post is part of a larger Child Psychology team where quality improvement, supervision and continuing professional development are highly valued. We have regular teaching/placements with the Bangor Clinical Psychology Programme.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and innovative Clinical Psychologist who will have a great working environment and a supportive team.


Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will undertake a range of assessments and deliver appropriate therapeutic interventions, along with some Care Co-ordination. They will promote psychological thinking and formulation within a multidisciplinary team and provide consultation to multi-agency professionals and families. Supervision of others, delivery of training, leadership and service development will also form an integral part of this development role. A newly qualified Clinical Psychologist with relevant experience and commitment to clinical quality, evidence-based practice and high professional standards is sought.

On commencing in post, the successful applicant will have a development plan with a target timescale of between 6 months and 2 years for completion, depending on current skills and experience. Regular clinical supervision will be provided by a Senior Clinical Psychologist. Promotion to a substantive 8a post will be achieved on fulfilling required competencies. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

* Honours Degree in Psychology
* Eligibility for Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
* Post-graduate Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent as accredited by the BPS)
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council

Desirable criteria

* Pre-qualification training in research methodology, staff training or other fields of applied psychology

Experience

Essential criteria

* Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist, normally with significant post-qualification experience within the designated specialty
* Evidence of further specialist training/experience through extensive clinical supervision
