We currently have a vacancy for a Machine Line Operator Apprentice to join us at our modern manufacturing facility in Livingston. We offer a competitive package and an opportunity to learn and earn in a great working environment.
The Opportunity
The Machine Line Operator Program
Our Apprentice Machine Line program has been designed so that the successful applicant will complete a modern apprenticeship. You will work alongside time served employees learning key skills on the machine line and develop key skills with experienced colleagues such as our Welder Fabricators.
As an Apprentice Machine Line Operator, you will attend West Lothian College to complete the required NC Engineering Systems SCQF levels 5 and 6 and can follow on with an HNC. The course includes milling, turning, bench fitting and a small aspect of welding.
As a JBT Marel Apprentice, your duties will include;
While at College
* Attend college on the days and times associated with the qualification and agreed by tutors and managers
* Complete the required work associated with SVQ assessments and Portfolios in a timely manner. (If there are any difficulties meeting required deadlines this should be raised with your tutors and manager).
Duties while at Work include:
Learning all processes, safety aspects and equipment within the machine line. The successful candidate will learn how to safely operate CNC saw, lathes and milling machines, press brakes, laser, LISSMAC and all other machinery. The candidate will also learn all safety procedures and protocols that are carried out within the shop floor. As well as different grades, thicknesses and types of materials, including additional engineering processes such as measuring, marking out, dressing and reading drawings to a high quality standard. They will work closely with the training coordinator on site to complete reports and knowledge questions to gain a further understanding of the core competencies of the machine line.

There is an optional HNC Engineering Systems available through West Lothian College.
In return, you will receive a starting rate dependent on age and qualifications, which is paid on the 23rd of each month.
