Assistant Accountant full time (35 hours per week) office based

About the role
We are looking for a proactive and detail‑driven Assistant Accountant to join the Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is part‑qualified and looking to develop their skills, contribute to continuous improvement, and play a key role in strengthening the financial processes.
Key responsibilities
Assist with month‑end and year‑end accounting processes
Support balance sheet reconciliations and journal postings
Maintain accurate financial records with strong attention to detail
Carry out purchase ledger and sales ledger duties as required
Assist with VAT returns and other statutory reporting
Support system improvements and help streamline financial processes
Provide general support across the finance team as needed
Essential skills & experience
Excellent Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, strong formula knowledge)
High attention to detail and accuracy
Part‑qualified in AAT / ACCA / CIMA
Previous experience in an accounting or finance support role
A proactive mindset and willingness to improve processes and systems
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
