TEAM LEADER
SUMMARY: To be able to operate with little to no supervision to complete project designs, while overseeing their team of designers. Working close to the project and preconstruction teams to ensure designs are completed on time and to the project's technical submissions and standards. Expected to attend design meetings when necessary. Review all issued drawings and calculations to ensure compliancy to the relevant Fire Sprinkler system. To assist with one-on-one training of the Sprinkler Design Engineers, Sprinkler Coordinators and Apprentices in the sprinkler codes and with the software. Have a good a rapport with their team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Strong working knowledge of fire sprinkler codes. LPCB, NFPA, FM, BS, BS etc.
2. Design automatic sprinkler systems including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems.
3. Perform hydraulic calculations for each design. Canute, Hand Calculations.
4. Coordinate the sprinkler system to suit the building and other services using the packages listed below.
5. Must be able to prioritise and plan their teams workload.
6. Attend client driven design coordination meetings, onsite or online.
7. Perform field surveys to ensure design is appropriate for structure and other services.
8. Prepare and submit 2D drawings for Approval, Construction and As Built.
9. Production of drawings to Argus Fire design and BIM standards.
10. Assist field personnel with design related installation issues.
11. Assist with the preparation of RFI's and other project documentation.
12. Oversee and assist with the work being carried out by their team members.
13. Oversee any subcontract designers working on projects within their team.
14. Reviewing of all issued drawings to comply with QA and compliancy.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Having passed most of the following exams: LPCB Basic, LPCB Intermediate or LPCB FHC. In depth experience with designing to BS and BS and having had experience with designing to NFPA and FM rules. Experience of carrying out site surveys, attending client meetings and site installation experience. Having at least 10 years' experience within the Fire Suppression Industry. Good leadership qualities and time management.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
A strong knowledge of design packages such as AutoCAD and Revit. A strong knowledge of Canute and Microsoft office.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and write clearly. Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) and the general public.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the Design Manager.
PLACE OF WORK:
Generally working from the office but is allowed to work from home from time to time.
Expected to attend site for client meetings, site survey's and communicating with site staff.
