Length of employment: Job Summary: Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your analytical skills in direct support of the Royal Navy (RN) front line? The RN Maritime Capability, Trials, and Assessment (MCTA) organisation is looking for a hard-working analyst to join our highly professional workforce to go onboard ships in harbour and at sea, around UK and occasionally overseas, to analyse the capability of the ship-fitted weapon systems and sensor equipment in readiness for operations worldwide. This role is an exciting developmental position involved in conducting operational analysis on the full range of weapon systems fitted to RN ships and will bring you into contact with current and future RN ships capability and technology. MCTA is a team of military and civilians led by a Royal Navy Captain, who face a constantly evolving vista of work conducting assessment and assurance of equipment on aircraft carriers, warships, and smaller military vessels. This role would suit applicants of an analytical/technical background and critical thinkers with an interest in data reconstruction and forensic analysis of humans and their interactions with machines and equipment and the impact on operational capability of weapons systems fitted to RN ships. For external applicants, the post is available as a permanent Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ) civilian position. The position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job Description: This role delivers the duties of an Analyst. This will involve learning how to record and preserve data on board platforms and conduct data reduction and analysis to identify how well systems are performing. This will provide objective evidence in support of a formal report of operational capability assessments as required by NCHQ, DE&S and Naval Authority. This will require the ability to work independently, along with good leadership and communication skills that have been proven in a team working environment. Whilst based in Victory Building in Portsmouth, the role is required to visit other locations around the UK and on occasions abroad to conduct analysis, data collection and attend meetings. Overtime (including at weekends) and nights away at sea and in other locations may be required. Apprenticeships normally last between 12 months - 3 years, depending on the level of the apprenticeship.
