Job overview

Are you a motivated physiotherapist who would like to consolidate and develop your skills in a rotational post. As a Band 6 Physiotherapist in BHRUT you will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills and other non-clinical aspects of a specialist practitioner. This will ensure you are confident to work as an autonomous practitioner across a broad number of specialities.

We have 6 monthly rotations including acute frailty, critical care, medical specialities, orthopaedics (elective and trauma), respiratory and stroke.
You will work alongside senior members of staff to ensure quality rotation-specific treatment to patients with various medical conditions, according to the rotation you are on. We place high emphasis on multi-disciplinary teamwork.

You will have good assessment, planning and implementation skills. You will be able to mentor and supervise students as well as junior staff. Learning and development are very important to our Teams. Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard of physiotherapy service, as determined by the rotation, facilitating and maximising patient potential within the service boundaries

To fulfil a teaching and supervisory role with peers, Junior staff and Students on placement

To participate in the band 6 rotational scheme which could involve working across the Trust in a range of settings, including orthopaedic musculoskeletal conditions, acute stroke, critical care, surgical/paediatrics and acute medical.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
2. H.C.P.C. Registration
3. Evidence of relevant CPD

Desirable criteria

4. Post graduate clinical training
5. CSP Membership
6. Evidence of completion of statutory and mandatory training
7. Clinical supervisors training

Experience/ Knowledge

Essential criteria

8. NHS experience
9. To have broad clinical experience during Band 5 rotations including acute medical, respiratory, neuro, orthopaedics, MSK outpatients
10. Evidence of regular and up to date CPD activity
11. Assessments and treatment of patients with complex needs in the acute and outpatient setting

Desirable criteria

12. Previous band 6 experience
13. Previous critical care/on call experience

Skills/ Abilities

Essential criteria

14. Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate own caseload
15. Ability to effectively contribute to the MDT e.g., complex discharge planning
16. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of limitations of own clinical practice and identify appropriate solutions
17. Ability to demonstrate specialised skills in assessment and treatment of patients in the acute and outpatient setting in line with current practise and research
18. Understand clinical governance and its implications for service delivery and demonstrate evidence of its clinical application i.e., audit
19. Supervision of other staff i.e., assistants and technical instructors
20. Ability to cope working in a stressful environment and with emotional or aggressive patients and carers
