We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic person to become part of our talented Kitchen team at the exclusive Grand Central Hotel.
Under the leadership of our inspiring Executive Head Chef, Damian Tumilty, you will have the opportunity to work with our friendly team, develop your skills, and enjoy the variety offered by a role in hospitality.
The successful candidate can expect to work 45 hours per week (excluding breaks), five shifts out of seven including weekends.
Hours vary, but typical shift patterns include 11am to 11pm and 2pm to 10pm.
The salary for this full-time position starts from £42,250 per annum.

About the role
Role Overview
Assist in managing the Kitchen to ensure Hastings standards of preparation and presentation are maintained.
* Help the Executive Head Chef manage the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchens, ensuring the hotel’s reputation for food quality is upheld.
* Ensure the planning, preparation, cooking, and presentation of food meet the hotel and guest standards.
* Contribute to the development of the hotel’s business plan, projects, and initiatives to enhance business and market position.
* Assist in managing the culinary budget and kitchen expenditure.
* Implement and monitor stock management and ordering policies, resolving issues as needed.
* Ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations, environmental health laws, and other relevant legislation.
* Maintain the hotel’s 5-star hygiene score.
* Secure the kitchen and storage areas at all times.
* Provide training, coaching, and development for kitchen staff to meet Hastings standards.
* Ensure quality standards and procedures are understood, implemented, and reviewed regularly, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
* Conduct regular team meetings to communicate standards, targets, and company information.
* Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of all kitchen areas, fixtures, and equipment.
* Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments to promote a respectful and harmonious working environment.
* Perform any other duties as required.
About You
Previous experience in a quality catering establishment at a similar level is highly desirable.

* Previous experience at a similar level within a high-quality catering operation
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Food Preparation and Cooking, with a current Food Hygiene Certificate
Desired Criteria
* Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, including English and Maths
* Basic Food Hygiene certificate
* Experience as an Executive Sous Chef
