Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced podiatrist to join the Health in Justice (HiJ) Musculoskeletal (MSK) team on a part-time basis at HMP Isle of Wight. This is a high security men's prison spread across two sites (Albany and Parkhurst) just outside Newport, Isle of Wight. You will provide outstanding evidence-based care, advanced assessment and treatment for patients who may have complex and/or chronic presentations, determine clinical diagnosis and treatment, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
You will assess and treat a range of conditions including diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies and nail surgery. You will deliver non-judgemental care, build therapeutic relationships and promote professional boundaries. You will participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care, following our policies and procedures. You will inspire excellence in colleagues by proactively managing foot, ankle and lower extremity conditions and motivate the wider team to identify patients at high risk. You will forge strong working relationships with the Practice Plus Group healthcare team and the wider Health in Justice Service. You will be responsible for your own caseload and waiting lists and be able to work as an autonomous practitioner. We are looking for a caring, compassionate, innovative podiatrist to help us deliver our vision of high-level MSK care in a secure setting.
Role is 6 sessions per month; total of 24 hours a month.
Responsibilities
* Assess and treat patients in a secure environment, including diabetic patients, wound care, MSK pathologies and nail surgery
* Maintain accurate medical records and act as an autonomous practitioner
* Deliver evidence-based care and contribute to care planning, implementation and evaluation
* Develop strong working relationships with the healthcare team and the wider Health in Justice Service
* Manage your own caseload and waiting lists
Qualifications
* HCPC registration, with proven post-registration experience of assessing and treating a range of conditions
* Experience in assessing and treating diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies, and nail surgery
* Self-motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills
* Evidence of CPD and work within MSK speciality
* Non-judgemental and compassionate approach
* Excellent communication and IT skills (MS Word, Outlook)
* Experience with electronic notes systems is desirable

* Salary: £40,000–£49,000 per annum pro rata depending on experience
