The Role:
We’re looking for a proactive Quality Control Surveyor to support both Development and Asset Management teams, ensuring construction projects meet required standards, specifications, compliance obligations and contractual expectations.
This is a permanent hybrid role, offering flexibility while still maintaining a strong on‑site presence to ensure quality delivery.
You’ll inspect works, manage quality processes, liaise with contractors and consultants, and play a key part in successful handovers, defects management and customer service excellence.
Key responsibilities:
Quality Control & Site Monitoring
* Inspect construction works for compliance and quality.
* Monitor site progress, labour levels and delays.
* Produce and distribute progress and quality reports.
* Attend site meetings, snagging visits and handovers.
* Manage defects during the Defects Liability Period.
* Contribute to technical specifications for tender documents.
* Inspect major works (kitchens, bathrooms, roofs, windows, doors).
New Build & Professional Team Support
* Ensure contractor workmanship and materials meet contract requirements.
* Support resolution of site problems and construction defects.
* Advise on quality, finishes and specification compliance.
* Assist with development‑related invoice processing.
* Coordinate quality audits with specialist consultants.
* Ensure new homes are correctly set up in internal systems.
* Manage and coordinate defects across all new build homes.
Asset Management Support
* Support delivery of planned works programmes.
* Monitor and validate contract variations.
* Monitor contractor compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
* Help prepare specifications of works for projects.
Liaison & Customer Service
* Demonstrate home systems and technology to residents.
* Manage serious defects during the liability period.
* Work closely with internal teams to support project delivery.
* Contribute to reviewing design briefs and employer requirements.
What We’re Looking For :
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in quality control, inspections, or similar roles.
* Background in social housing, consultancy, contracting or housebuilding.
* Strong knowledge of construction methods, legislation, CDM and Fire Safety.
* Proven ability to identify defects and manage corrective actions.
* Excellent communication, negotiation and customer‑service skills.
* Highly organised with strong time‑management and ability to meet deadlines.
* Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and comfortable with IT systems.
* Ability to work independently, flexibly and manage contractors effectively.
Qualifications Required :
Essential: Technician‑level construction qualification (ICWCI, City & Guilds Part III, NVQ Level 3) and strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
Desirable: Health & Safety‑related qualification.
