Principal Systems Architect
(Brio Digital, on behalf of our client)
Brio Digital is partnered with a world-class robotics organisation that is pushing the boundaries of AI, automation, and intelligent systems. Their mission is to design and deliver advanced robotic platforms that are safe, scalable, and transformative across industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and construction.
As they continue to scale, we're now supporting them in hiring a
Principal Systems Architect
— a senior technical leader who can define and implement system-level strategies for next-generation robotic platforms.
The Role
As Principal Systems Architect, you will take ownership of the
end-to-end system design
of complex robotic solutions. You'll define technical strategies, manage system requirements, and guide integration across AI, hardware, and software teams.
This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in robotics, embedded systems, and large-scale technical leadership — someone who thrives at the intersection of hardware, AI, and systems engineering.
Responsibilities
* Define and implement system architecture aligned with product vision and long-term goals.
* Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to design scalable, robust systems.
* Set and manage system-level requirements across all engineering teams.
* Create and maintain system documentation (block diagrams, interface specs, design narratives).
* Lead technical trade studies and present architectural roadmaps to leadership.
* Identify bottlenecks and drive performance, reliability, and scalability improvements.
* Establish technical standards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
* Coordinate integration efforts across AI, mechanical, electrical, and software teams.
* Stay ahead of industry trends in robotics, embedded systems, and AI integration.
Requirements
* Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
* 15+ years of industry experience, including 5+ years in senior system architecture roles.
* Strong knowledge of robotic system design (kinematics, dynamics, control, perception).
* Proven track record in hardware-software co-design, real-time computing, and middleware frameworks.
* Experience integrating AI/ML, sensor fusion, and autonomous decision-making systems.
* Familiarity with embedded systems, FPGAs, high-performance computing, and power management.
* Experience with simulation tools such as Gazebo, Simulink, or similar.
* Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance performance, cost, and complexity.
What's on Offer
* Competitive salary plus stock options.
* Generous paid leave aligned with local standards.
* Travel opportunities across international hubs.
* Office perks: meals, snacks, and regular team events.
* Freedom to shape product direction and lead core initiatives.
* Work alongside world-class engineers and researchers in a high-impact, fast-paced culture.
