Behaviour Support Assistant

Location: Swansea

Hours: 8:30 – 3:30 Monday to Friday

Salary: £13.75 per hour

About The Role

Are you passionate about helping young people who need help creating a fresh start?

We’re working with a committed team at a Pupil Referral Unit in the Swansea area, to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join us. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams in order to support pupils with challenging behaviour, emotional needs and barriers to learning. This role is vital in promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and a safe and nurturing learning environment for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide individualised behavioural and emotional support both 1:1 and small group mentoring
* Assist and implement behaviour support plans and risk assessments alongside the teacher
* Aid pupils in managing their behaviour and regulating their emotions
* Build positive, trusting relationships in the classroom under the direction of teaching staff
* Help to maintain a calm, safe and structured environment across the unit
* Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour and incidents in line with the school policies
* Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents/carers
* Uphold safeguarding procedures at all times

The Successful Candidate Will Have

* Experience working with children or young people with behavioural, emotional or additional needs
* A calm, patient and resilient approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Confidence in de-escalating challenging situations
* A genuine passion about supporting vulnerable people
* An Enhanced DBS (child only) or willing to obtain one
* A full UK driving license (preferred)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
