Job Title: Referral Specialist – GP Surgery (Operations Assistant) Location: Hyde, Manchester Contract Type: Temporary (with potential to become permanent) Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Core hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm) Pay Rate: From £16.88 per hour (Ltd/Umbrella) / £13.42 per hour (PAYE equivalent) About the Role: We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Referral Specialist / Operations Assistant to support Business & Operations Manager in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of a GP practice. This is a key administrative role, vital to maintaining performance targets and delivering high-quality patient care. Key Duties and Responsibilities Process routine and urgent referrals accurately and promptly Manage referrals via the NHS e-Referral Service (ERS) and community pathways Coordinate imaging referrals including X-rays and Ultrasound Scans (USS) Complete and submit 2WW (Two-Week Wait) proformas in line with national guidance Maintain and monitor referral worklists to ensure timely follow-up Monitor and action Advice & Guidance responses with a fast turnaround Audit outbound referrals for quality and timeliness Prepare and report weekly referral progress data to the Operations Manager / Management Team Manage the dedicated referrals inbox, ensuring timely responses Allocate referral worklists across the team to support efficient workflow Process administrative queries via online consultation systems Handle incoming calls from patients and healthcare professionals regarding referral queries Manage and action EMIS workflow tasks related to referrals Essential Criteria Strong administrative background with excellent attention to detail Experience working with EMIS and NHS referral systems (ERS and 2WW) Excellent communication and organisational skills Ability to prioritise and manage workload in a fast-paced environment Confident in liaising with patients and healthcare professionals Desirable Criteria Previous experience in a GP practice or healthcare setting Good understanding of NHS referral processes and local care pathways Experience with data auditing and reporting What We Offer Competitive hourly rate Supportive and collaborative working environment Opportunity for the role to become permanent Valuable experience within a busy GP practice setting How to Apply: Contact rebecca.hyde@servicecare.org.uk or call 01772 208963
