Head of Financial Reporting

Ascent Recruitment is excited to exclusively partner with a successful insurance business in Manchester City Centre to appoint a qualified Head of Financial Reporting.
This is a senior finance leadership role, reporting directly to the CFO, and responsible for delivering timely, accurate financial reporting, statutory financial statements, and regulatory submissions across multiple legal entities in the UK and Ireland.
You'll lead a team of qualified accountants and play a key role in managing Solvency II reporting, ORSA, tax returns, and group submissions, while supporting strategic decision-making and capital planning initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and develop a team of qualified accountants across multiple insurance entities
* Act as a people manager to two direct reports and a technical accountant
* Oversee all financial reporting, including affiliate packs, ECON submissions, and Solvency II returns
* Manage the audit process and ensure the timely delivery of financial statements for the Group
* Monitor capital position under Solvency II and produce ORSA
* Deliver accurate regulatory reporting, including UK GAAP, tax returns, FCA and ONS reports
* Support strategic initiatives requiring capital analysis or reinsurance planning
* Coordinate submissions for quarterly Finance, Audit, Compliance & Risk Committee
* Assess changes in financial standards and deliver internal training where needed
Requirements:
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
* Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and Solvency II
* Proven experience in financial reporting within the insurance industry
* Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
* Comfortable managing deadlines and operating with autonomy
Salary and Benefits:
* Circa £100,000-£115,000
* Annual bonus
