About EH
EH is a bright, creative young adult who is high-functioning autistic, living with anorexia and anxiety. She enjoys all things crafty (crochet, knitting, jigsaws, Bananagrams), literature, plushies, supported shopping trips, academic learning, and great conversations. Once comfortable, EH has a fantastic sense of humour and enjoys friendly banter.
Job Description
As EH’s Personal Assistant, you will support her in accessing the community, engaging in activities she loves, and developing her independence. This is a person-centred role focused on helping EH grow in confidence within a supportive, structured, safe environment.
Initially, due to her current health needs, the role will primarily be home-based—providing companionship, engaging in creative activities, chatting, reading, and helping her enjoy her interests.
As EH’s health improves, the role will gradually include supported outings such as shopping trips (clothing, hobby and book stores), hobby workshops, clubs, and other activities she may wish to explore.

* Communicate clearly, patiently and respectfully
* Be mindful of EH’s autistic traits, anxiety, and time-awareness needs
* Encourage and support EH to explore new activities at her pace
* Create a safe, enjoyable, and confidence-building environment
* Support EH with at-home hobbies such as crafts, puzzles, literature and conversation
* Accompany her on future community outings as her health improves
* Promote independence, self-esteem and positive experiences
Person Specification
* Is caring, reliable and genuinely enjoys helping others thrive
* Is looking for a long-term, meaningful role with a “friend-like” approach
* Enjoys humour, conversation, crafts and creative activities
* Has experience supporting young adults with autism and/or anorexia (beneficial but not essential)
* Is patient, supportive and sensitive to EH’s individual needs
* Does not smoke around the young person
* Holds a full driving licence (beneficial but not essential)
Qualifications / Skills / Training
* Experience working with autistic young adults or individuals with anorexia is helpful but not essential
* Compassion, reliability and a willingness to learn are key
Driver Required?
Not required, but would be beneficial.
