Overview
This is a full-time replacement Consultant Cardiologist position (General Cardiology, Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Cardiac Imaging) based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI). The post-holder will join a team of eleven Cardiologists.
Responsibilities
* Commitment to General Adult Cardiology Receiving (currently 1:11) including weekend ward rounds.
* Three outpatient clinics per week, including a general cardiology clinic and two Adult Congenital Heart Disease clinics (supported by a specialist nurse). Peripheral clinics may be included.
* Develop skills in nuclear myocardial perfusion scintigraphy if not already accredited, to support succession planning within the department.
* Contribute to the Echocardiography and imaging services and participate in regular departmental activities and reviews.
Department and facilities
The Cardiology Department at ARI runs busy out-patient services with General Cardiology and Chest Pain Clinics, plus specialist clinics in Complex Heart Failure/Devices, Arrhythmias, Valve Disease, Cardiomyopathies and Adult Congenital Heart Disease. Advanced Cardiac Imaging modalities are available, including Coronary CT, Cardiac MRI, PET, MUGA, and DPD scanning. The Echocardiography Department performs a high volume of studies and supports a modern imaging service.
Qualifications and requirements
* Full registration with a license to practice with the GMC (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting).
* Higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview, or possess CESR/CESR (CP).
* Applicants trained in the UK should be eligible for Specialist Register; those not on the Specialist Register may be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) with a pathway to CESR/CESR (CP) during locum employment.
