RESPONSIBLE TO: Deputy Dean of the Business School
POST OBJECTIVES:
Deliver and manage modules across undergraduate and postgraduate sport and football degree courses. Complete administrative tasks, including quality assurance documents related to student feedback, assessment moderation, and participation in Assessment Boards as required by GIS' awarding bodies. Support the Deputy Dean in assisting staff teaching on UG and PG courses. Support academic provision at overseas partnerships linked to GIS courses.
KEY TASKS:
Teach designated modules and courses as defined by the Dean of School, including contributing to online course delivery.
Maintain academic standards and adhere to course and module specifications.
Design and deliver teaching materials at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, contributing to curriculum review and enhancement to support student learning outcomes.
* Prepare and deliver lectures and seminars across various study levels.
* Encourage critical thinking and debate to foster student engagement and excellence.
* Identify learning needs, define objectives, supervise projects, field trips, placements, and advise on study skills.
* Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technology, and real-world applications to enhance engagement and understanding.
* Monitor student engagement and feedback; maintain accurate records of progress.
Undertake assessments and examinations, providing constructive feedback.
* Mark and assess student work; participate in internal verification.
* Collaborate with colleagues and External Examiners to embed best practices.
Engage in continuous professional development.
* Develop strategies to promote and assess learning.
* Deepen expertise in your field to foster new knowledge and understanding.
* Participate in research and professional growth activities.
Participate in departmental seminars for knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration.
* Act as a responsible team member and foster productive relationships.
* Develop external networks to promote GIS and future collaborations.
* Collaborate on assessment procedures development and implementation.
Provide pastoral care as a personal tutor, supporting students and referring them to services as needed.
* Support attendance, retention, and achievement KPIs.
* Work with support staff to ensure high student satisfaction.
* Contribute to annual review and evaluation reports, implementing action plans based on feedback.
Undertake staff development and training aligned with GIS objectives, including attending briefings.
* Follow health and safety and equal opportunities policies.
* Work flexibly and undertake other relevant duties.
