Job Description
The M25 is one of our flagship UK projects. It is a busy segment of the UK Strategic Road Network with high vehicle volumes and critical infrastructure. We formed a Joint Venture, Connect Plus Services (CPS), to widen, operate and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract. We are looking for an Inspections Lead to oversee a programme of statutory and contractual inspections. You will work with Delivery Leads to define inspection requirements, data capture, and targets for inspection unit costs. You will ensure inspections meet quality, contractual and statutory deadlines and decide on delivery strategy (internal CPS resources or external subcontractors).
Key Responsibilities
* Safety: Demonstrate high standards of visible safety leadership; incorporate safety in the inspection process and promote behavioural safety. Ensure compliance with Business Management System requirements and good safety practice.
* Reporting and Compliance: Ensure inspection activities comply with laws, regulations, and policies. Prepare monthly reports for clients and senior leadership as required.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary contact for internal stakeholders and clients regarding inspections; escalate critical decisions and unresolved issues as needed.
* Resource Allocation: Collaborate with Delivery Leads to meet deadlines and quality standards; define inspection volumes with Asset & Network Planning; manage internal staff and supply chain resources.
* Process Ownership: Own all inspection delivery processes for all asset types, including scheduling, execution, and data capture; lead process improvements and efficiencies for accurate information.
* People Leadership: Lead a large team to deliver inspections on time and to quality; oversee staff development and talent retention within the team.
* Budget Management: Monitor and control the in-year inspection budget; implement corrective actions to maximise performance.
Qualifications
* Proven experience delivering large inspection programmes across multiple asset types or large volumes of similar planned work.
* Strong leadership experience managing a team, preferably in a matrix organisation.
* Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.
* Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulations.
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or relevant field OR suitable level of industry experience.
* Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent; SMSTS qualification.
