An excellent opportunity to join a prestigious organisation as a College Surveyor. This role will manage procurement, administration and delivery of building projects across the college estate - from Grade 1 listed works to new build developments, while undertaking full Managing Surveyor duties throughout the project lifecycle.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
* Project Procurement & Budget Management: Working with consultants and site teams to plan, source, and order materials, tools, and labour for building projects, ensuring everything stays within budget and follows College financial rules.
* Commercial Oversight & Strategic Input: Handling invoices, providing commercial advice, liaising with external consultants, and supporting long-term planning by identifying future development opportunities with the Estates Director.
* On-site Oversight & Quality Assurance: Monitoring building projects at all stages, ensuring subcontractor work meets specifications, and resolving issues in collaboration with consultants.
* Team Leadership & Operational Support: Managing site diaries, overseeing minor works, supporting the Buildings team, supervising the Senior Buildings Coordinator, and handling additional duties as needed.
To be considered for this role, you will need to bring:
* RICS-accredited degree or an equivalent apprenticeship pathway or equivalent experience.
* Membership of appropriate professional body such as RICS or CIOB.
* Significant experience of leading and managing short-term, smaller building projects as well as long-term, high value (£1M +) projects.
* Experience in providing Quantity Surveyor services for building contracts.
* Experience of working with Grade 1 and 2 listed buildings.
* Experience in future planning of major projects and working as a site manager.
* Thorough knowledge of methods of construction and Health & Safety relating to construction sites.
* Awareness of construction and conservation as related to historic, stone-built or grade 1 listed buildings and knowledge of building regulations and planning processes.
Details of the role

The hours of work are 40 hours per week usually Monday to Friday, with an unpaid 30-minute lunch break. The annual salary is £60,894 per annum.
