We’re seeking an HR Advisor to join one of our centrally based departments at the University of Oxford Key Responsibilities: HR Support & Advice Provide tailored HR advice to managers and staff, interpreting policies and employment law Support managers with staffing needs, change management, and employee case handling Oversee recruitment activities and maintain accurate records Deliver HR inductions and briefings across the department Policy & Development Develop and implement local HR policies (e.g. probation, absence, induction) Communicate and brief staff on changes to University-wide HR regulations HR Operations Draft contracts, appointment letters, and visitor agreements, ensuring compliance with right-to-work checks, HMRC IR35, and other policies Maintain HR databases and generate monthly reports Manage core processes such as fixed-term contract tracking Compliance & Recordkeeping Monitor absence, probation, and appraisal cycles Track payroll changes, working hours, and statutory pay compliance Attend relevant HR training and ensure best practice is applied locally What We’re Looking For: Proven experience of working in an HR role and managing HR processes Working toward or holding a CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience) Confident user of HR systems with the ability to produce accurate reports Excellent communication skills and stakeholder relationship management Vacancy ID 19560 Please be aware that all candidates need to be able to start work immediately and must be able to work on site if required to do so.
