Job overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated paramedic or nurse to join the SCAS Research team. We need you to fulfil your passion for research by engaging patients and public in SCAS-approved studies. You will implement research protocols by responding to emergency calls on a Rapid Response Vehicle and offering research opportunities where appropriate. Additionally, you will contribute to the delivery of studies at community events, such as at schools. Acting as a research advocate, you will enthuse and engage your frontline colleagues, inspiring them to take part in our studies. Your high standard of record-keeping will contribute to SCAS’ national reputation for collecting high quality data. This is a permanent opportunity with a maximum 0.8 WTE availability. The right candidate could be based at Oxford city, Kidlington or Didcot. Advert · To deliver specialist programmes of care to patients involved in research projects. · To provide specialist advice and liaison to patients and their families associated with research projects. · To ensure achievement of milestones of project deliverables including, but not limited to, study set-up, governance, data collection, data collation and reporting. · To work closely with the research team and collaborating institutions to ensure study activities are carried out with a co-ordinated approach. · To act as research advocate and point of contact for staff, promoting the concept of evidence-based out-of-hospital care. Corporate Induction It’s really important for us to ensure you have the best onboarding experience which allows you to feel a sense of belonging from the start. To help with this, we will book your Corporate Induction as soon as we possibly can (depending on availability). All new starters need to attend our *Corporate Induction in person, this is held over one and half days from our educational centres based in: Newbury (Berkshire), Bicester (Oxfordshire) or Whiteley (Hampshire). More specific details will be sent to you once your start date has been confirmed. *Please note – depending on your role additional training may be required following on from your corporate induction. Detailed job description and main responsibilities 1. To be responsible for the delivery to research study participants the pathway/programme of care related to the research programme. This will include using specialist therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, providing clinical technical advice to the Trust and the research team and providing advice to paramedics and nurses in relation to the care of these patients. 2. To provide advice to patients during the research programme of care follow up period. 3. To be the main point of contact providing technical information and support to the families of patients engaged in the research. 4. To facilitate project deliverables including study set up, governance, data collection, data collation and reporting. 5. Ensure coordination of study activities with institutions and individuals collaborating on, or participating in, the delegated research project. 6. Undertake clinical research training sessions, promote evidence based practice and supervise other Trust clinicians involved in clinical research activity. 7. Collaborate with other Trust departments to develop projects that address the research priorities of the Trust and support the Trust with participation in local and national research campaigns.
