Engineering Manager – Polyhalite Mine
This is a unique opportunity to lead an engineering team at the world’s only polyhalite mine. The engineering manager will be responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability and performance of critical assets in a heavy industrial environment. The role is multidisciplinary and will cover both electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines while managing large‑scale engineering operations, a skilled team of around 100 professionals and significant OPEX budgets. The manager will directly impact safety, productivity and the adoption of best‑in‑class maintenance and engineering practices, reporting to the Head of Engineering and shaping long‑term strategy.
Responsibilities
* Safety & Compliance
o Act as Mines Regulations 2014 appointee, ensuring statutory compliance and reporting.
o Lead safety activities, embedding a strong safety‑first culture across engineering teams.
o Keep up to date with legislation and champion continuous improvement of health, safety and environmental performance.
* Engineering Leadership
o Lead, motivate and develop a multidisciplinary team of ~100 engineers, supervisors and tradespeople.
o Set and enforce engineering standards across the mine to ensure safe and reliable operations.
* Asset & Maintenance Management
o Develop and implement long‑term asset management and maintenance strategies.
o Ensure the maintenance strategies remain up to date, effective and support compliance with relevant legislation.
o Drive improvements in reliability engineering and promote the adoption of innovative practices and technologies.
* Project & Financial Management
o Lead the planning and delivery of major engineering projects from concept through to execution.
o Manage significant OPEX maintenance budgets (≈ £8M) and oversee capital investments.
o Apply commercial awareness to ensure engineering activities are cost‑effective and aligned with business needs.
* Collaboration & Communication
o Work closely with senior leaders across Mining, Operations and Safety functions.
o Present performance updates, KPIs and project progress to senior management.
o Build strong relationships with suppliers and contractors to deliver quality and value.
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards
* Significant experience leading teams in heavy industry or a high hazard environment (e.g. COMAH sites, mining, power generation)
* Strong knowledge of engineering maintenance techniques and asset reliability
* Proven ability to manage large teams and substantial budgets
* Excellent communication and decision‑making skills
* Desired: Background in reliability engineering
* Desired: NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent safety qualification
Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Scarborough
A well‑established and leading manufacturing company based in the Scarborough area is looking for an experienced Multi‑skilled Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to join the business. In this position, you will be part of an autonomous and proactive engineering team.
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards
* Significant experience leading teams in heavy industry or a high hazard environment (e.g. COMAH sites, mining, power generation)
* Strong knowledge of engineering maintenance techniques and asset reliability
* Proven ability to manage large teams and substantial budgets
* Excellent communication and decision‑making skills
* Background in reliability engineering (desired)
