Job Title: Serious Injury ParalegalSalary: £23,500 - £24,500Location: Wakefield, West YorkshireJob SummaryWe are seeking a committed individual to deliver a high-quality claims handling service to clients. You will support Fee Earners in managing serious injury claimant cases, contributing to the overall success of the department and assisting in the generation of fee income. This role involves supporting the handling of a portfolio of serious injury claims.
Core Responsibilities
* Assist lead file handlers in progressing their serious injury caseload.
* Draft standard free-form letters using the ProClaim case management system.
* Act as the first point of contact for your Fee Earner, answering telephone calls professionally.
* Handle telephone enquiries where possible and take detailed messages to pass on promptly.
* Meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as agreed monthly with your line manager.
* Maintain and update the case management system accurately.
* Ensure that filing and other record-keeping systems comply with firm standards.
* Arrange appointments for Fee Earners where appropriate.
* Liaise with the Finance Department regarding disbursements, outstanding accounts, and related matters.
* Support colleagues during peak periods by assisting with document production, maintaining task lists, handling calls, and general administrative tasks.
* Sort and distribute incoming post.
* Perform effectively in a target-driven environment.
* Undertake any other tasks considered reasonable and relevant by the business.
Key Performance IndicatorsYour KPIs and personal objectives will be set and reviewed through regular one-to-one meetings with your line manager. These sessions will focus on tracking progress, offering support, and identifying areas for professional development.
Person SpecificationEssential:
* Experience supporting a caseload of serious injury claims.
* A strong commitment to delivering outstanding client care.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to achieve objectives in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of work and client service.
* Proficient in using case management systems and Microsoft Excel and Word.
* Excellent attention to detail, with strong organisational and time management skills.
Desirable:
* An understanding of serious injury or multi-track personal injury claims.
* A positive attitude, self-motivated, and able to use initiative.
* A team player who sets a good example for colleagues.
* Resilient - able to adapt to change and handle challenging situations while meeting objectives.
