If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Digital Services team as an Enterprise Architect.
Main duties of the job
As an Enterprise Architect, you will be the primary expert responsible for the evolution of the Enterprise Architecture, supporting the Council’s Digital and Corporate Strategies. You will account for the creation, delivery, and review of the Council’s technology strategy, roadmap, and investment plan, and manage the architecture review board. You will supervise Solution Architects on projects, provide direct advice, and perform governance tasks. You will uphold and enhance the Council’s Enterprise Architecture principles, standards, and patterns. You will develop an architecture community of practice for knowledge sharing and consistency amongst Digital Service’s architecture specialists. You will translate business strategies into an operating model, assess capabilities, identify required changes, and document the interrelationships between various organisational elements. You will create and manage architectural models depicting the organisation’s future state, enabling its evolution. You will implement architecture practices to support iterative/agile working and document constraints, standards, and guiding principles. You will utilise architectural models and processes to facilitate organisational change. You will advocate for cloud-based services benefits and direct the development of enterprise-wide architecture for change management. You will ensure compliance between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities, and technology directions.
Principle Accountabilities
As an Enterprise Architect, you will understand the current Enterprise Architecture holistically and facilitate discovery activities to gain insights. You will guide stakeholders based on the existing Enterprise Architecture and proposed future architectures. You will maintain Enterprise Architecture documentation, principles, standards, patterns, and policies. You will review Solution Architectures and ensure quality and integrity of designs. You will chair governance bodies and advise the Council on key decisions, strategy, policy, and investment. You will lead technology architecture and work with communities of practice to manage evolution of Enterprise IT. You will collaborate with service providers, IT teams, and third parties to create current and future architectures. You will assure platform design for reliable IT service and integrate appropriate security into architectures. You will represent the Council at meetings and events, promoting a professional impression of the council and Digital Services. You will lead Enterprise Architecture activities, evaluate new technologies, and provide recommendations for service delivery improvements. You will ensure architectures meet statutory obligations, assure designs from third parties, and lead feasibility studies for proposed IT developments. You will interpret business and user requirements into technical solutions and embed security by design. You will support the CTO in adopting new technologies, enhancing technical security, and ensuring systems are interoperable.

Working for the Islington Council Digital Services Architecture team means being part of a group responsible for designing and implementing technology solutions to support the council's IT infrastructure and services. As a team member, you will work closely with various stakeholders to understand their requirements and develop architecture solutions that align with the council's goals and objectives.
Your role might involve analysing existing systems, identifying areas for improvement, and designing efficient and secure IT solutions. This could include recommending hardware and software solutions, defining system integration strategies, and ensuring compliance with data protection and security standards.
Additionally, you may collaborate with other teams and external vendors to coordinate implementation efforts, provide technical guidance, and support, and contribute to the overall Digital strategy of the Islington Council. It's an important role that contributes to enhancing the council's technology capabilities and supporting the efficient delivery of services to the community.
