Position summary
The Sr. Manager, Project Management Office will direct and lead a team of Project Managers supporting divisional strategic projects to ensure timely delivery and successful program execution to meet organizational goals. This role provides leadership, direction, and oversight for their team, with a focus on delivering bottom line business results through creative problem solving and cross-functional partnership. The role drives PMO maturity, scalability, and standardization, and serves as a partner to senior leadership influencing portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, and investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Defines, maintains, and implements "best in company" project management methodology, including processes, tools, metrics and polices to ensure efficiency, quality and business success.
Owns strategic portfolio management, including prioritization, capacity planning, and governance to ensure alignment with business strategy.
Oversees all aspects of the planning, execution, and completion of the project portfolio, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Drives strategic initiatives and ensures alignment with organizational goals, including quarterly reporting commitments.
Manages resource allocation and workload distribution among project managers to optimize productivity and project outcomes. Where necessary, manages key/strategic projects as required by the business.
Provides all managerial responsibilities for direct reports, including but not limited to assigning tasks, overseeing work progress, evaluating employee performance, supporting employee development, and leading the team. Provides training and mentorship to project managers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Ensures all team members are actively working toward established milestones and results with adherence to budget, schedule, and scope.
Monitors actions, business performance metrics, and targets, working with the team to close gaps and drive successful outcomes.
Develops PMO capability and talent through coaching, training, and succession planning
Qualifications
5+ years of direct supervisory experience required.
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in complex project management (preferred).
Advanced Continuous improvement experience (lean, PPI, Six Sigma, 5S) a plus.
Project Management and/or PMP (Product Management Process) certification a plus.
REQUIREMENTS:
Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience managing complex, global programs and project initiatives
Preferred Fields of Study: business, engineering, science or related field
Lean/Six Sigma certification beneficial
Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix organization
Demonstrated success implementing large-scale business transformations, system integrations, or process improvements
Strong understanding of project management methodologies and best practices
Strong leadership abilities with demonstrated success building and developing teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to engage at all levels
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously
Experience with project management tools and systems
Change management and stakeholder engagement expertise
Adaptable to changing project demands and varied environments
Interpersonal awareness and conflict resolution abilities
Strong planning, organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in English required; additional languages beneficial
Ability to travel up to 25% as needed
Experience in regulated/GMP environment preferred
