Our client, a highly respected social housing organisation in Bedfordshire, is seeking a Hostel Support Worker to join their team on a 9-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. About the Role: You’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the hostel and provide direct, tailored support to customers. Working in a psychologically informed and person-centred way, you will guide residents toward independent living through proactive coaching and structured support. ️ Key Responsibilities: * Deliver day-to-day hostel operations and direct support to customers * Provide person-centred coaching tailored to individual needs * Manage a personal caseload and conduct weekly support sessions * Attend professional meetings and support external appointments * Complete referrals and liaise with external services * Conduct customer assessments and develop support/risk management plans * Manage rent arrears and assist with benefit applications and payment plans * Ensure accommodation is safe, secure, and well-maintained * Help customers develop life skills for independent living and support their move-on journey * Carry out room checks and comply with health and safety procedures ✅ What We’re Looking For: * Previous experience in a similar support or housing role * Enhanced DBS (recently carried out) * Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable) * Strong interpersonal skills, resilience, and a practical, creative approach to problem-solving Contract Details: * 9-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover) * Full-time – 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (with some shift working hours) * Salary: £24,000–£25,500 per annum pro rata (£18,000–£19,125 for contract duration)
