We are looking for motivated Pathology Support Workers to help us provide the best quality care for patients. A degree isn’t necessary and neither is prior laboratory experience; we just want the right people for the role. Whether your background is in healthcare, retail, customer service, or any other field, we value your unique skills and enthusiasm!
You'll work across both LTH sites at Preston and Chorley and gain experience in the Pre-analytics, Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry departments.

On 1st February 2026, Pathology services for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust will come together to form the Lancashire and South Cumbria Single Pathology Service.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will be the Lead Provider of the service and the employer of colleagues working within the service, across sites.
If you are successful in your application, and commence work prior to 1st February 2026, your employment will transfer to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on 1st February 2026 under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations, 2006. There will be no impact for your job role, terms and conditions of employment or location of work.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
7. Assist in preparing patient samples, solutions, and reagents for processing on our analysers.
8. Help maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a clean, safe working environment.
9. Support the team in collecting data and documenting results.
10. Manage inventory and supplies, ensuring the lab is fully stocked and organised.
11. Work collaboratively with scientists and other staff to meet our common goal- providing the best service to our users.
