Our client, an engineering services company, is currently hiring a Project Estimating Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.
Job Purpose
The main purpose of this position is to carry out project estimating for small to large fabrication/piping work scopes based on customer enquiries, ITTs, and RFQs.
Main Responsibilities
1. Carry out tasks as requested by the Workshop Manager or Divisional Manager.
2. Estimate small and large fabrication/piping projects according to customer enquiries, ITTs & RFQs, scope of works, specifications, and requirements.
3. Prepare and submit tenders, quotations, and supporting documentation following company procedures.
4. Engage with customers through meetings, reporting, and communication for fabrication & piping projects.
5. Assist with workshop project documentation and certification processes.
6. Provide estimating win/loss reports to the Workshop Manager.
7. Maintain a safe and tidy working environment, using PPE appropriately at all times.
8. Work in compliance with HSE ACOPs, customer rules & specifications, and company/divisional instructions.
9. Represent the company professionally at all times.
10. Perform any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Divisional Manager or Senior Management Team.
Skills and Abilities
1. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to role requirements.
2. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and BOMs.
3. Competence in using Microsoft Office tools such as Word and Excel.
4. High attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Strong organizational and time management skills.
6. Self-motivated with initiative, capable of working independently and within a team.
7. Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
8. Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
9. Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
10. Willingness to work overtime when required.
Knowledge & Experience
1. Minimum SVQ level 3 or higher in a relevant trade qualification.
2. At least five years of estimating experience in a fabrication/piping engineering environment.
3. Knowledge of BS EN 1090, ISO 3834, and PED (UKCA / CE) standards.
4. Basic understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
5. Possession of a full clean driving license is preferred.
