The Role
Are you a passionate and driven engineer with a flair for fluid dynamics? An exciting opportunity has opened up for a talented, enthusiastic, and motivated Senior Fluid Analyst to join our cutting-edge Analysis, Modelling & Simulation Team within the Mission Systems business unit.

You’ll play a key role in delivering high-impact analysis that directly influences the performance, safety, and reliability of critical mechanical and fluid systems across both submarine and surface ship platforms.
1. Leading the delivery of fluid analysis activities, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining the highest technical standards.
2. Authoring and reviewing technical documentation, ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and robustness of all fluid analysis outputs produced by the team.
3. Driving continuous improvement by supporting the evolution of fluid analysis methodologies—enhancing both precision and efficiency across a range of applications.
4. Advancing cutting-edge techniques, helping the team stay at the forefront of the field by developing capabilities in areas such as compressible and multiphase CFD analysis to meet evolving customer demands.
5. Championing knowledge sharing, by developing new analysis methods and delivering both formal and informal training to upskill the wider team and embed best practices.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid/remote working arrangements.
Essential Experience of the Senior Fluid Analyst
6. Experience in fluid analysis in a high integrity environment
7. A good understanding of first principle fluid dynamics.
8. A history of working to and improving fluid methodologies.
9. Experience using Computational Fluid Dynamics (Babcock use Fluent and CFX), 1D modelling (Babcock use Python, Matlab and AMESim).
10. Experience of transient 2D and 3D analysis.
Qualifications for the Senior Fluid Analyst
11. Mechanical Degree, or HND or HNC in an Engineering Discipline with demonstrable experience and capability.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate must obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance once in post.
