Job Description:
Obtrada is a specialist transport data collection and survey company providing accurate, high-quality data to support transport planning, engineering, and development projects. Our services include traffic counts, pedestrian and cyclist surveys, parking studies, journey time surveys, speed surveys, and bespoke data collection for consultancies, developers, and local authorities.
We are a growing business looking to strengthen both our client relationships and day-to-day office operations through this hybrid role.
Role Purpose:
This is a hybrid Business Development and Office Administration role, designed for someone seeking school term-time working while still contributing to the growth and smooth running of a professional services business.
The role combines client-facing responsibilities with operational and administrative support and plays a key role in ensuring enquiries are handled professionally, work is scheduled efficiently, and relationships with clients are actively maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Client Relations (Approx. 50–60%)
* Identify and research potential new clients within transport planning, civil engineering, architecture, and property development
* Carry out outreach via email, phone, and LinkedIn to introduce Obtrada's services
* Maintain regular contact with existing clients to encourage repeat work
* Arrange and conduct client meetings and introductory calls
* Assist with preparing proposals, quotes, and tender submissions
* Maintain and update a CRM or client database, tracking leads, follow-ups, and outcomes
* Support light marketing activity such as updating service documents, case studies, and company profiles
Office Administration & Operations Support (Approx. 40–50%)
* Manage incoming enquiries, emails, and phone calls
* Coordinate survey scheduling, survey applications, staff availability, and equipment use
* Prepare and format documents, reports, and templates
* Maintain organised digital filing systems and job records
* Assist with invoicing, payment tracking, and liaison with accountants where required
* Order office and survey supplies and track equipment
* Support general office administration including calendars, meetings, and record keeping
Skills & Experience Required
* Experience in an administrative, business support, client-facing, or sales support role
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
* Confident and professional communicator (written and verbal)
* Comfortable speaking with clients and building professional relationships
* Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Ability to work independently and use initiative
Desirable (Not Essential)
* Experience in business development, B2B sales, or customer-facing roles
* Experience in engineering, surveying, transport, construction, or professional services
* Familiarity with CRM systems or proposal preparation
* Basic understanding of Adobe InDesign or Photoshop

Location & Working Arrangement
This role is based at our Pulborough, West Sussex office and requires a regular on-site presence, particularly during the initial training and onboarding period.
Once fully trained and confident in all aspects of the role, hybrid working may be considered for the right candidate, subject to business needs and performance.
