To provide a comprehensive financial management service to corporate managers within one or more directorates. This will involve working closely with budget managers to provide financial management advice and support using information produced by the management accounting team.
The role involves the production of timely and accurate management information, and requires both technical knowledge of accounting procedures and an understanding of the operational business of the Trust.
Responsibilities
* Produce monthly budget reports for services within one or more directorates, ensuring accurate data and timely reporting.
* Reconcile budget movements, monitor savings plans and investigate variances.
* Understand key drivers of the financial position and communicate them to budget holders through robust forecast estimates.
* Meet regularly with budget holders to discuss performance, provide challenge and support, and ensure financial control is maintained.
* Identify areas of concern, advise on corrective actions, including cost reductions or income generation, and follow up on agreements.
* Attend Directorate Senior Management Team meetings, present financial information clearly, and address queries.
* Undertake costings for new developments and service enhancements, and provide revenue implications of business cases and proposed changes.
* Support managers to develop annual budgets, costing approved staffing establishments, assessing non‑pay expenditure and identifying cost pressures.
* Assist budget holders with Cost Improvement Programmes and monitor delivery of cost reductions and CIP targets.
* Provide support to the Senior Finance Manager in monitoring contract income, ensuring accurate invoicing and timely reconciliation.
* Ensure all directorate income is invoiced correctly and liaise with debtor organisations to resolve queries.
* Provide training and advice to budget holders on Trust financial and purchasing systems and key procedures.
* Contribute to the production of the Trust Annual Accounts, completing working papers, analyses and returns as directed.
