Paralegal – Serious Injury (Birmingham)
4COM (4Communication B.V) is looking for a dedicated Paralegal to join our Serious Injury Team in Birmingham. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to work from home with flexibility to collaborate in‑office when needed.
Purpose of the Role
Assist a Lead Lawyer with all aspects of serious injury cases, ensuring matters progress in a timely and efficient manner while maximising damages and costs. You will handle a diverse caseload of multi‑track cases ranging from RTA to EL, PL & OL matters.

Main Responsibilities
* Progress files in line with KPI targets
* Assist a Lead Lawyer to ensure matters are progressed in a timely and efficient manner
* Liaise with clients, experts, barristers, insurers, police and other relevant parties
* Handle all aspects of pre‑ and post‑issue procedures promptly
* Draft statements of case, witness statements, application notices, pleadings and instructions
* Prepare accurate and detailed file notes
* Maintain case plans and summaries, taking a proactive approach
* Research points of law in respect of liability and quantum and undertake necessary research prior to tasks
* Conduct telephone negotiations, case‑management conferences and other communication with solicitors and courts as directed
* Pursue cases to conclusion as directed
* Attend court, joint settlement meetings, case‑management conferences and other required sessions
* Prepare trial bundles and assist with costs instructions and disbursement lists
* Ensure an excellent level of client care is maintained
Essential Skills and Experience
* Good researching and drafting skills
* Sound base knowledge of the law surrounding serious injury and court procedure
* Excellent attention to detail, file management and organisational skills
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Adaptability to a diverse environment and quick analytical decision‑making
* IT competent
* Excellent time management and organisation skills
* Previous experience in a personal injury department (preferable)
* Willingness to travel and flexible working hours
* Previous legal work experience in the PI field
* Willingness to work with other teams across the business and attend networking and marketing events
* Buddying new members of the team to help with development
Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* A law degree, Graduate Diploma in Law, or a desire to gain legal qualifications via CILEX, paralegal apprenticeship or the SQE routes
* Previous legal work experience in the PI field
* Driving licence
