SEMH Teaching Assistant - Primary Gloucester & Cheltenham Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting experienced and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistants to work across a number of specialist and alternative education settings in the Gloucester and Cheltenham area. These roles involve supporting primary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom can present with physically and verbally challenging behaviour. We are looking for confident, consistent professionals who can provide firm boundaries, emotional regulation support and positive role modelling in demanding environments. The Role: Working across a range of specialist provisions and alternative settings in Cheltenham Supporting primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis Managing and de-escalating physically and verbally challenging behaviour safely and effectively Supporting pupils to regulate emotions, re-engage with learning and build positive relationships Following behaviour plans, risk assessments and EHCP targets The Ideal Candidate: Has strong, proven experience supporting children with SEMH needs Is confident and capable when working with pupils who may present physically and verbally Is calm, resilient and consistent, even in high-pressure situations Has experience working with primary-aged children in specialist, PRU or alternative provision settings Behaviour management training (Team-Teach or similar) is highly desirable Is flexible and adaptable to different school environments Why Join Tradewind?
